Source Data from DB?

Postby headjoog on Fri Jul 07, 2006 5:11 pm

I am writing a simple transformation to test my installation. So far everything looks great...one quick question.

When I test, it wants to load the source data. Does this actually move the source data to the server then perform the transform out of postgres? Do you have to load the source each time you perform an operation?

Thanks,

The first time you test a transformation that is using a database as a source, the server will query the actual database source to produce the data, which it then uses in the test transformation. Subsequent tests (until you close the transformation page) will use the source data that was loaded the first time, i.e. the database will not be queried.

If you are using the transformation in an operation, the source database is queried every time the operation is executed.
